Race Results

Race results are the foundation of everything GoAnd.Run builds on top. Your race history powers the Race Analysis charts, informs training plan generation, and gives the AI the context it needs to track your improvement over time. This guide explains how race results get into the system and how to manage them.

Auto-extraction from Strava

When you sync activities from Strava, GoAnd.Run automatically identifies races from the activity's workout type field. If Strava has the activity tagged as a race (which happens when you set the workout type to "Race" in Strava), it will be extracted as a race result without any action from you.

How it works

Strava's workout type field is checked during sync. Activities tagged as Race are automatically added to your results.

GoAnd.Run attempts to identify the race distance from the activity's recorded distance. Standard distances (5 km, 10 km, half marathon, marathon) are detected automatically.

The activity's recorded time becomes the finish time, and pace is calculated from distance and duration.

Tag your races in Strava for best results

To ensure races are auto-extracted, open the activity in Strava, click the pencil icon to edit, and set the Workout Type to Race. The next time GoAnd.Run syncs, the activity will appear in your results.

Marking an Activity as a Race

If an activity was a race but was not tagged as such in Strava, you can mark it as a race directly from within GoAnd.Run without touching Strava.

1

Open the activity

Navigate to Activities and click the relevant activity to open its detail page.

2

Click Mark as Race

Find the Mark as Race button near the activity header. Clicking it adds this activity to your race results immediately.

3

Unmark if needed

The same button changes to Unmark Race once the activity is flagged. Click it to remove the race flag at any time.

Manual Entry

For races you did not record on Strava (perhaps an older result, a treadmill race, or a result you want to add from memory) you can enter results manually.

1

Go to Results

Navigate to Results and click the Add Result button.

2

Fill in the details

The form asks for:

  • Race name: the name of the event
  • Date: when the race took place
  • Distance: select from standard distances or enter a custom distance
  • Finish time: your chip or gun time in hh:mm:ss format
3

Save

The result is saved and immediately included in your Race Analysis charts and personal best calculations.

Manually entered results have limited detail

Results entered manually do not have the heart rate, zone, or split data that Strava-linked results have. They still appear in performance charts and contribute to personal best calculations, but the Race Analysis detail page will show less information for them.

Results List

The Results page shows all your race results, newest first, grouped with personal best indicators. From here you can:

View the detail analysis. Click a result to open the race analysis detail page, which includes training block context, effort analysis, and AI coaching insights.

Delete a result. Remove a result using the delete button. Deleting does not remove the underlying Strava activity, only the race classification.

Personal bests. A trophy icon or PB badge appears next to any result that is your current personal best for that distance.
